Here we are again, a little older and what I like to think, a little wiser.

I went out last night with Kevin, an old volleyball friend who now lives in London where he's studying to get his PHD in graphic design, and a couple other volleyball faces who found out it was my b-day. It was nice to catch up with Kevin and have the entertaining young group. They were all very nice and generous in regards to buying alcohol and trying to get me drunk, but I'm glad I didn't fall for that, though I'm grateful. I'm sure some pictures are being posted right now on facebook and myspace, nothing too revealing which is proof of me being wiser. (smile)

I got a nice email from Eric and he's enjoying Spain a lot -of course. He's overdosing in art and culture while tasting Spanish wine and eating bread and cheese. Is that Paradise or what? He went to Toledo for a day and visited a few castles and mansions turned into cultural centers and galleries. They seem to be everywhere! He also took the train to Leon to see this cathedral with the most famous stained glass work in Spain. He had a great time in Madrid and he enjoyed very much the company of his host Pedro. Thanks to Nedra - very nice of you to connect them.

I was at University Village B&N bookstore yesterday reading a few magazines (for free) when I came across this very interesting and true UTNE Reader article about how major companies and employers are adopting this concept of FUN at the work place and infantilizing their employees with really stupid ideas and games to reward and rescue them from chronic boredom and lack of enthusiasm. They found out through research that generally one quarter of employees (25%) don't give f*ck about their job and just want to collect their paychecks. Also, 40% of all employees spend at least two hours on non-related and unproductive tasks are work on a daily basis, without counting breaks and lunch time. That explains the popularity of the tv show THE OFFICE. So much of it is true! This article was RIGHT ON. You should read it and you'll realize what I have to go through and why I cringe when I hear the work "Team Building".
